Pedram Zohrevand has Served as the Assistant City Engineer at the City of Fort Lauderdale

Pedram Zohrevand is the director at CES4. Prior to this, he was the Assistant City Engineer at the City of Fort Lauderdale. He was responsible for managerial and professional engineering work in the Public Works Department Engineering Division. Some of his responsibilities included:
  • Overseeing the Engineering Division (more than 30 engineers)
  • Supervising all engineering and architectural services/activities throughout the City of Fort Lauderdale, which includes planning, design, permitting, and construction of City’s buildings, transportation and roadway facilities
  • Advising the City Commission, City Manager, Departments’ Directors, other City officials, neighborhood representatives, and residents on the status of important issues associated with the City’s and other agencies’ projects.
His main accomplishments and projects as the Assistant City Engineer include:
  • Developing performance metrics and monitoring system for Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Staffing
  • Executive project management training.
  • Implementation of Adaption Action Areas (AAAs) policies adopted into the city’s comprehensive plan.
Pedram Zohrevand has also been an active member of various Professional Committees, such as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Concrete Institute (ACI), George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES), and Structural Engineers Association of South California (SEASC). 

As a member of ACI Committee 440 and Structural Engineers Association of South California (SEASC), he has been involved in the development of design guidelines for retrofit of seismically deficient structures by using Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites.

According to Google scholar, Pedram Zohrevand has more than 20 scholarly papers published in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals with more than 100 citations. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from Florida University in 2012. 

His study was focused on advanced composite materials and earthquake engineering and his PhD dissertation was part of a multi-university research project funded ($2,000,000) by National Science Foundation (NSF)-Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation Research (NEESR).
